Turning scope
Mori Seiki, Okuma lathes | Twin-spindle machine available | Concentricity and roundness checked in production.
- CapacityUp to Ø 310 × 800 mm on the Okuma LB3000 EX
- Twin spindleOkuma 2SP150H | Operation transfer between the two spindles.
- ToleranceTypical turning: ±0.005 mm.
- FinishRa 0.4 μm achievable on turned faces with a honed edge and the right feed
- ThreadsCut and rolled, metric and inch series. We roll the thread where the fastener carries load
- Roundness, concentricityChecked during machining.
- VolumeOne-off through repeat batch. No minimum order quantity
- QualityISO 9001:2015, certified by URS under UKAS accreditation
Setup is determined by the concentricity requirement between turned and milled surfaces | Twin-spindle machine or transfer to a machining centre | Confirmed at the quotation step.

Turning capacity and quotation requirements
Maximum turning size
Maximum turning size is Ø 310 × 800 mm on the Okuma LB3000 EX.
Suitable production volume
Scope: turned parts to drawing, prototypes and repeat batches | Feasibility per geometry, tolerance and quantity.
Typical turning tolerance
Typical turning tolerance is ±0.005 mm. Long or slender parts are reviewed from the drawing.
Common turning materials
- SteelS45C and 1045 for shafts and pins, induction hardened where specified. S45C notes →
- Alloy steel4140 and SCM440, usually pre-hardened at 28–34 HRC. 4140 notes →
- Stainless304, 303 for free-cutting turned work, 316L and 17-4PH. 316L notes →
- Aluminium6061-T6, 7075-T6. 7075 notes →
- Copper alloysC36000 and C26000 brass, bronze and OFC copper for bushings and electrical parts
- PlasticsPOM, PEEK, MC Nylon and PTFE, quoted to plastic tolerances and measured at 20 °C
303: easier to machine than 304; lower corrosion resistance and weldability | Material change requires written approval. All grades we run →
Measured before it ships
- In-process inspectionConcentricity and roundness per inspection plan.
- CMMMitutoyo CRYSTA-APEX V in a climate-controlled lab for full dimensional reporting
- GaugeMitutoyo LK600 height and length gauge, calipers and micrometers checked against a calibrated standard
- ThreadsThread gauges to whatever standard your print names, metric or inch series
- ReportDimensional report in both inch and millimetre, with material certificate to EN 10204 3.1 on request
- PackingVCI paper and film against corrosion, with partitions so turned faces do not touch
Post-machining steel protection: rust-preventive oil | Surface requirements and transit protection confirmed before shipment.
Common questions
Turning diameter limit?
Maximum turning size is Ø 310 × 800 mm on the Okuma LB3000 EX.
Do you have live tooling or mill-turn?
Okuma machines: mill-turn and twin-spindle | Single-setup completion requirement confirmed at RFQ.
How tight a tolerance can you turn?
Typical turning tolerance: ±0.005 mm | Surface roughness: down to Ra 0.4 μm | Long/slender parts assessed separately.
Thread rolling vs thread cutting?
Thread rolling or thread cutting | Thread-forming method per drawing and load-bearing requirement.
Can you supply material certificates for turned parts?
Yes. EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates are available on request, along with the dimensional report in both inch and millimetre.
Is there a minimum quantity?
No. Prototype quantities go through the same inspection route as production batches.
